Halbrook to Seek Re-Election to the 107th House District
“I helped build the pushback team against the Democrat’s harmful policies in Springfield and that work must continue.”
Shelbyville, Illinois: Today Republican State Representative Brad Halbrook announced he will run for re-election in the 107th State House District. Halbrook has one of the most conservative voting records in the Illinois House and has been unafraid to speak up in committee and during floor debates on a myriad of important issues. “We need to be a vocal minority when the Democrats bring up crazy ideas. I have been able to stop or have legislation altered simply by paying attention and speaking up. I am seeking re-election because we need someone with courage and a willingness to make arguments and fight for both commonsense laws and our shared values in the 107th.”
Over the last couple of years, Halbrook has refined his use of technology, social media, and in-person town halls to connect voters with critical information so they are more informed and can help inform others. He has produced numerous online videos and social media posts to get information directly to the people he represents and out to the media to influence legislation. “Information is power,” said Halbrook and, “I believe in full transparency on all policies that affect constituents.”
Rep. Halbrook also has a deep understanding of local government. His recent comments on House Bill 1076 brought clarity and put new requirements in place on the use of county property, ensuring taxpayers were protected when counties bid out their property for use by others. He is also extremely knowledgeable on education and energy issues, having hosted town halls with experts on both topics in just the last year.
Halbrook is a founding member of the Illinois Freedom Caucus, which provides its own conservative analysis on legislation and works together to give a bigger voice to critical policy debates. Under Halbrook’s guidance, the group has hosted online weekly discussions on energy, education, crime bills, gun ban laws, taxes, and much more. Halbrook stated that, “I helped build the pushback team against the Democrat’s harmful policies in Springfield and that work must continue.”
Rep Halbrook is pleased to announce the endorsement and support of Illinois Freedom Caucus members including: IFC Chairman and State Representative Chris Miller, State Representative Dan Caulkins, Illinois State Senators Steve McClure and Chapin Rose, and Republican County Chairmen Ross Wilson from Shelby County, Mark Hughes from Montgomery, and Jose Durbin from Effingham.
Rep. Halbrook’s work has been recognized by important conservative organizations. He has received The Champion of Free Enterprise from the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, along with numerous endorsements from National Federation of Independent Business, ABATE, Associated Builders & Contractors, Illinois Farm Bureau, Illinois Fraternal Order of Police and the Illinois Sheriff’s Star Legislative Endorsement. He also has a National Rifle Association -PVF A rating.
Additionally, Halbrook has earned a lifetime conservative score of 93 percent, the highest of any sitting Illinois State Representative, from the Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), a project of the American Conservative Union Foundation,
