Carbon Capture, Transportation, and Sequestration

In this week's enews, we are excited to share with you two very important videos that we have produced. The first video discusses carbon capture, transportation, and sequestration, highlighting the importance of this legislation and how it affects all of us.

The second video is a livestream with members of the Illinois Freedom Caucus, where we delve into HB 4895 and HB 5457. HB 4895 mandates climate change education in schools, while HB 5457 focuses on allowing the licensing of illegal aliens to become social workers.

We encourage you to take a few moments to watch these informative videos and gain valuable insights into recent legislation.

Carbon Capture, Transportation, and Sequestration

In the wake of the passing of SB1289, a controversial piece of legislation concerning carbon capture and sequestration in the state, concerns have arisen regarding the lack of provisions for setbacks for home/farm and municipal drinking water sources from CO2 injection wells and sequestration fields.

As the debate rages on among lawmakers and concerned citizens, one particular family finds themselves at the center of the controversy. The Smiths, who have lived on their farm for generations, are faced with the prospect of a CO2 injection well being installed just a stone's throw away from their property. Despite their pleas for setbacks to protect their land and water sources, the legislation offers no relief.

As tensions rise and emotions run high, the Smiths must decide whether to fight against the powerful forces behind the legislation or risk the potential consequences of living in such close proximity to the injection well.

With their livelihoods at stake, the Smiths must navigate the murky waters of politics and power in order to protect what is most precious to them – their home and their water. Will they succeed in their fight for justice, or will they be forced to accept the harsh reality of life under SB1289? Only time will tell.

Survey Question:

Should drinking water sources like home/farm or municipal drinking water wells and the Mahomet Aquifer be protected from C02 injection wells and sequestration fields?
